The John McCluen Company is a privately owned closely-held corporation in the business of manufacturing marine flotation and custom vacuum-formed plastic shapes.
The company was established in 1928 by Mr. John E. McCluen. The business began as a residential-plumbing installation and repair shop. In 1946, Mr. McCluen was joined by his nephew Mr. Cliff Massa Jr., and the company began to expand into the heating, ventilating and air conditioning contracting business. The company was incorporated in 1967 and moved to our current location in 1974. Upon the death of Mr. McCluen in 1974, Mr.Massa continued to operate the business as President.
In 1981, the company closed it's mechanical contracting interests and began to manufacture plastic vacuum-formed products. Mr. Cliff Massa was joined by his son John Massa in 1985. Research and development of dock flotation devices was started in 1988. The “DOCK BUOY” float was introduced to the market in 1989. Since the death of Mr. Cliff Massa in 1991, John Massa has continued to operate the company as President.
